About us
The inspiration
It's always about the People. We are inspired to meet the needs of our growing community and to be here for everyone's convenience. We are also inspired and grateful to be able to work together as a family.

The beginning
While raising a young family, Pete & Rose Friesen were inspired to start a new business. Working with Rose's dad to renovate the front of his auto service garage on Main Street, Country Snacks was established on October 11, 1990. It is Niverville’s first convenience store and gas station.

The Growth
From 1995 to 2012, Pete and Rose worked on increasing the size of the store with 5 different renovations. In that time Manitoba's Best self serve soft ice cream was created in 1999, and Papa PEPPIE’S pizza was established in 2005.
In 2018, demolition began of the building next to Country snacks at 166 Main Street, to make way for The Big Dream.
In 2019 the realization of The Big Dream took place. Expanding the pumps from 2 pumps & 2 lanes to a 6 pump and 12 lanes with a canopy design was complete!

The Generations
When the Friesen’s children were young, Chris, Shana, Michelle and Jessica all worked their way through school. Today Shana and Jessica are a big part of the business. The grandchildren are starting to work for Nana and Papa, too!
Pete and Rose feel very blessed to not only have grandchildren working for them but also second generation of former staff as well.
Their strong faith and belief that “it’s about the people” is what keeps them excited about tomorrow.
Community in mind
Country Snacks has always welcomed local products and sponsored many local sports teams, schools and community groups.
